Message from the Chief Trustee

The International Organic Chemistry Foundation was established on August 23, 2012 with the aim of contributing to academic development in the field of international organic chemistry.

The objectives of the Foundation are as follows:
(1) To subsidize the International Kyoto Conference on New Aspects of Organic Chemistry (IKCOC) held every three years.
(2) To hold academic lectures, public seminars, or other events related to international organic chemistry and synthetic chemistry.
(3) To organize other projects needed to achieve the aim of the Foundation.

Masahiko Yoshida

The first International Kyoto Conference on New Aspects of Organic Chemistry (IKCOC) in 1979 was organized by relevant members including my father, Zen-ichi Yoshida, who then was the chair of the Division of Synthetic Chemistry of the Kinki Chemical Society.

Through steady expansion after each conference held since then, the IKCOC, now encompassing over 1000 participants, is well-received as the most notable international conference in the field of organic chemistry. Focusing on the enduring and growing significance of the IKCOC, we will provide continued support to permanently hold the conference into the future.

We will also invite distinguished organic chemists from overseas to give academic lectures, which provide good opportunities for young researchers to learn and develop their skills.

We are endeavored to further develop the Foundation with support from many people involved in organic chemistry and synthetic chemistry. We hope that our activities will help achieve Japan’s academic and technological advancements in the future.

I am the son of the founder of IOCF, Zen-ichi Yoshida. We will continue our activities as before.

                                     Masahiko Yoshida
